Summer Social Skills

Language Learning Associates Summer Social Skills Camp focuses on building social relationships while promoting development of pragmatic language skills. Students enhance their communication skills by learning how to use appropriate greetings, initiate/maintain/end a conversation, interpret social situations and body language. The camp also targets problem solving skills while promoting independence in activities of daily living (e.g. preparing a snack).

Each student participates in large group activities, such as journal writing, sporting events and “campfire games”. Everyday, each student would participate in three small group activities as an opportunity for individualized instruction of their IEP goals to directly target maintenance of skills obtained during the school year. During the camp data is taken on the student’s IEP objectives/goals to track maintenance of skills and prevent regression over the summer break.
